Long term partnership with Fortum

Fortum is an international giant in the energy sector, with main business operations extending across ten different countries. Fortum is also a responsible company that promotes change towards a cleaner world with its own strategy.

Qubilea has worked with Fortum on software testing and quality assurance projects since 2016. We have been involved in a variety of projects over the years; some examples include the MyFortum mobile and web services for consumers, and a solar panel order and delivery channel with an integrated solar benefits calculator.

We have also worked in different roles and tasks, from manual testing and qualifications reviews to the development of test automation and test management tasks.

‘Fortum’s services for consumers are excellent. A versatile, high-quality mobile application is proof of the company’s leading position in the sector in terms of service design and design system. It has been a pleasure to be involved in the work to renew the services in collaboration with Fortum’s service developers.’ – Marko Närvä, Test Lead, Qubilea

Qubilea developed a test automation solution based on Robot Framework to support regression testing and daily monitoring of the MyFortum service, which is available as a browser-based web service and mobile app that you can download to your mobile device. The test automation for the mobile app also uses the AppiumLibrary. The same elements were later used in creating the test automation for Fortum’s SmartLiving service.

‘Test automation has helped us reduce the amount of administrative work and challenges involved in releases, and they provide important support in addition to manual testing. Collaboration with the Qubilea guys has always been smooth, and they work proactively as part of the team.’ – Maiju Vuorinen, Product Owner, Fortum

Our collaboration in testing continues, and in 2021 the focus is on the Datahub project led by Fingrid. The project aims to develop a centralised information exchange system for electricity retail markets. Datahub will be commissioned at a national level in February 2022.
